Photo: The Canadian Press One person was killed when a large tree fell on a busy road in Vancouver, smashing one car and damaging another. A police statement says it happened shortly after 5pm on Tuesday at Marine Way in southeast Vancouver. The victim is said to have been alone in a sedan when the tree overturned in all three lanes to the west, smashing the passenger compartment of the vehicle. Police say the victim was trapped inside and died at the scene. The hood and front grille of an SUV were also damaged, but no one in this vehicle was injured. Investigators are appealing for video with a dashboard camera taken along the route between 5 and 6 p.m., as they try to determine why the tree fell.
