The six victims took part in a rally inside an apartment building on Block 800 on Congdon Avenue shortly before 2 a.m. when gunfire was heard, police said. A man, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead from his injuries. The condition of the wounded from the shootings was not immediately known. Hours after the shooting, crime film and broken windows are seen near the entrance to the complex. Marissa Pridemore, a resident, said she heard loud music from the apartment, which was not uncommon. But at least four shots were fired then. “You know the police will come a lot and I do not know, this time it is just escalating a lot more than usual,” he said. Pridemor was so frightened that she stayed in her unit, but nevertheless witnessed him immediately afterwards. As of Sunday afternoon, police were conducting investigations to determine what caused the shooting and to find out who was responsible. The incident was isolated, according to the authorities, and the public is not in danger. “It’s horrible, you know,” Prindemore said. “We live here, this is our home. They are just crazy enough to shoot others, you know.” The resident said she does not want to move, but thinks about it after the shooting as she worries about her safety and calm. “I do not want to leave because it is my home,” he said. “But I do not want to be here anymore. It ‘s scary, people have children here and it should not happen.”
