The girl was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after the incident on Woodlawn Road in Dorchester.

The RCMP has answered a few questions and says it will not explain what happened.
Wellett said police did not suspect “crime is the cause of the girl’s death.”
“With this in mind, we can not comment further on the details of the incident in order to protect the privacy of those involved,” Ouellette said.
School officials also have a few words to say about the incident.
In a letter to parents, school principal June Leger said the district had no further information on what happened.

When asked for information on Thursday, a school district spokesman said no further comment would be made.
“Following the RCMP investigation into the incident, there is no further action to be taken,” Stephanie Patterson wrote in an email. “In the interest of respecting the privacy of those affected, we can not comment further.”
He said the Dorchester Consolidated School will remain open Thursday for students and staff who want to meet with members of the Education Support Services team. Appointments of parents and teachers were canceled.
Ouellette referred further investigations to Anglophone East and forensic services.
A request for information was made to the forensic service, but no details were given until the time of publication.
Robert Corkerton’s children are traveling in the same school bus as the girl who died but were not on the bus on Tuesday afternoon.
The details of the incident will eventually be considered, but now is not the time, said Corkerton, who chairs the school’s parent support committee and is a member of the Dorchester Village Council.
He said that the focus at the moment should be the care of the students.
“As a parent of a child on this bus, I’m not worried about the details right now,” said Corkerton, whose son was a classmate of the girl who died. “I think more about our family, our community. That’s my concern.”

The forensic office is investigating
A spokesman for the forensic service said they were investigating the incident.
Because it is an active investigation, Geoffrey Downey said he could not comment further.
WorkSafeNB has confirmed that it is not investigating the incident.

On Twitter on Thursday afternoon, local MLA member Megan Miton said, “Her heart is heavy to learn that the baby girl died.… My sincere condolences to her family and the Dorchester Consolidated School community. “I know this is a difficult time for the whole Dorchester community.”
The Minister of Education and Preschool Development, Dominic Cardy, also expressed his condolences.
“My thoughts are with all those affected by this tragedy. The counselors will continue to provide assistance to the students and staff,” he wrote in an email.
“As the school and community mourn the loss, the department is working with the Emergency Response Team and the School Crisis Plan to ensure that emotional and mental health support remains available.”
However, he declined to give any details about the incident “in order to protect the privacy of those affected and to respect the police investigation”.
