At 9:20 p.m. AT, RCMP wrote on Twitter that they were looking for a male suspect and that other shots were heard around Bell Street in East Preston. It is not clear whether the suspects are adults or minors, only that they are men. Police want anyone with information about the shootings to contact them directly. In an interview shortly after 10pm, Cpl. Chris Marshall said police were unaware of the shooting. Earlier in the evening, around 20:10, an emergency alarm was issued asking residents to lock their doors and find shelter in their place. Marshall said the order is still in place and that police may end up asking residents to move out of their homes, depending on how long the situation lasts. “It’s something that could happen. I just do not want people to panic even more than they should. But so far, everyone is still in a shelter,” Marshall said. “People in the area just need to be prepared for a police officer to show up.”

The shooting call came just before 7 p.m.

The RCMP received a call for the shots at 6:55 p.m., Marshall told CBC News earlier. Marshall said police arrested one person and two others were seen running in a wooded area behind Brian Street in East Preston. One of the two suspects remains at large. “We have the area contained at this point,” he said.

The suspect is believed to have been armed

The suspect is believed to be armed. Marshall said the force has many officers and resources on the ground. Police warn residents not to approach the suspect and call 911 if found. In a tweet released at 23:25, police said the investigation is ongoing and more details will be announced on Saturday.
