AUGUST, Ga. The 2022 Masters was a whirlwind with literally winds rising on Friday and temperatures dropping on Saturday to keep some of the best golfers in the world out of the game. In these conditions, the two men who have played the best golf so far this season in the PGA Tour are fighting. Scottie Scheffler is the 54-hole leader with a three-year lead over Cameron Smith entering the final round of the Augusta National on Sunday. Although Scheffler scored 71 on Saturday, Smith tore the standings with 68 for the day. As a result, he almost halved Scheffler’s lead and created a two-man showdown at the top of the green jacket standings. Meanwhile, Tiger Woods went in the completely opposite direction. Woods posted his worst lap on Augusta in his career as a professional or amateur. His 6-over 78 contained two double bogs, and as Woods said, “thousands” of hits. It is clear that the injured Tiger’s right foot bothers him after he breaks out the first two rounds to make his 22nd consecutive cut in the Masters. Sunday will be about protecting his body and trying to end the tournament in a positive way. Here is a look at all the couples who will start playing on Sunday at 86h Masters. Reminder: 26 of the last 31 Masters champions come from Sunday’s final pair. The lone man who has managed to reverse this trend recently is Danny Willett, who is in 8th place but is nine shots behind Scheffler who enters Round 4.
