Police went to a house in a fenced-in community on Riverboat’s 50 block at about 10:30 a.m. to conduct a welfare check, according to the Irvine Police Department. “Members of the extended family of the occupants of the house told the Canadian authorities that they had not been able to contact the occupants for more than a year and were concerned,” Canadian officials later contacted Irvine police, the department said. Press release. According to the announcement, a father, mother and an adult son lived in the house. When police entered the house, they found three “severely decomposed” corpses that appeared to be adults. According to investigators, there were no signs of forced entry into the house and no suspects are being sought in the case. A gun was found inside the house. “There is some evidence that this was a domestic incident that led to a suicide,” the police statement said, without giving further details. Police say they believe the three bodies may have been there for up to 18 months and are investigating how the case was not reported for such a long time. “As far as I understand, there is a homeowners association that is responsible for at least part of the care and maintenance of the lawn for the front of the house,” said Irvine Police Lt. Bill Bingham. “Looking at the house at a glance, it is not immediately obvious that someone has not come in and out of the house for maybe up to a year.” Copyright © 2022 KABC Television, LLC.
