According to police, they had been warned three times to stop blocking nearby traffic as they sat in the middle of the street.  A total of 35 people, including 18 members of Congress, were then arrested.  The protest follows last month’s controversial ruling by the Supreme Court that overturned the 1973 landmark decision of Roe v Wade, which had guaranteed women’s access to abortion. Abortion has now been banned or remains under threat of being banned in 60 per cent of states.  The Supreme Court is dominated by six conservative justices, three of whom were appointed by former-President Donald Trump.
