Apple also leaked the basic specifications. The new charger will support four different charging modes: 5VDC / 3A or 9VDC / 3A or 15VDC / 2.33A or 20VDC / 1.75A with a total power of 35W. This is a huge upgrade to everything Apple is currently offering in this segment. As such, the only similar options are the bulky 30W and 45W chargers with a single USB-C port. Expect the leaked charger to be significantly smaller as well, with the GaN supercharged charge off. So, with Android rivals reaching 120 W and delivering a full charge in less than 20 minutes, the arrival of this new dual charger could make Apple finally upgrade its game. I hope to learn more soon. Apple has confirmed the WWDC for June 10, where iOS 16 will be unveiled and the next-generation iOS beta has a long history of leaking upcoming Apple devices. Needless to say, faster charging alone would not be enough on its own – especially in conjunction with the iPhone 14’s impressive design, separate performance and increased prices. But for iPhone 14 Pro buyers it can just upset the balance, along with their oversized new cameras.

The leaks of the iPhone 14 have already revealed some of the best features and the biggest concerns of the new smartphones. But now Apple has accidentally leaked a highly anticipated upgrade that millions of iPhone and iPad users would like. Update 04/11: The industry-renowned analyst and confidential man Ming-Chi Kuo has added more details to the release of this new charger. Kuo states that the parts of the new charger are “approaching mass production” and Apple expects to ship up to 3 million units in 2022. Since the iPhone is no longer available with chargers, this is a fairly large number and – since no it will be cheap – he suggests it will be an urgent reason (faster charge? * cough *) for Apple fans to flock to it in large numbers. Kuo had previously said the charger would arrive in March, where he also confirmed he would be using GaN technology. GaN (gallium nitride) chargers offer higher efficiency and higher power density than traditional chargers. This allows them to offer faster charging in much more compact sizes. Apple has already introduced its first GaN charger, the 120W capacity for its new MacBook Pro. So a change comes and the iPhone seems ready to get involved. “Use the Apple 35W dual-port power adapter and a USB-C cable (not included) to charge your device,” Apple wrote in the support document.
