We have all often heard of the giant asteroid attack on Earth about 66 million years ago, which killed all the dinosaurs. This was the huge asteroid Chicxulub and played a critical role in the extinction of the dinosaurs as well as in a wide range of other environmental and biotic organisms. However, no solid evidence was ever found that an asteroid killed dinosaurs. So far, it seems. Scientists have recently found a well-preserved dinosaur foot, which has been around since the asteroid struck Earth. The dinosaur tip is complete with skin found from the emerging Tanis fossil site in the US state of North Dakota. But it is not the fossil that has been rescued for a long time that is of primary importance, it is actually the representation of the actual day that a giant asteroid struck Earth. The dinosaur fossil discovered and many other ancient specimens were killed and buried on the very day of the asteroid impact. There are very few dinosaur remains found on the rocks to study the asteroid impact, and having a sample from that time would be excellent in itself, the BBC reported. Sir David Attenborough, biologist, natural historian and broadcaster will examine this recently found dinosaur fossil.
It is not just the dinosaur fossil ..
Along with the dinosaur’s foot fossil, scientists have found a fish that breathed in the asteroid’s impact debris as it rained from the sky about 66 million years ago. In addition to these, there is a fossilized turtle, the remains of small mammals, the skin of a horned trikerato. the embryo of a flying pterosaur inside its egg. These fish fossils and sturgeon are the keys to discovering more about that day, as they have small particles of molten rock stuck to their gills, suggesting that the fish would have inhaled the particles as they entered the river. These motel rock particles have been chemically and radiometrically linked to the Mexican impact site. Professor Phil Manning in Manchester explained to the BBC: “We have been able to single out the chemistry and identify the composition of this material. who finished him for the dinosaurs “. However, it is known that a huge asteroid Chicxulub 12 km wide hit the Earth to cause the last mass extinction. And according to scientists, the point of impact has been located in the Gulf of Mexico. However, the main question is whether the dinosaur fossil found indicates that they died on the same day of the asteroid impact? According to the BBC report, “the Tanis team believes that it was very likely, given the location of the limb in the excavation sediments”. But Professor Steve Busatte of the University of Edinburgh is still somewhat skeptical about the exact time. He asserted that his confession had been obtained through torture. But surely these fossils pave the way for further understanding of the asteroid impact that ended the dinosaur era and foreshadowed the rise of mammals like us.
