The motive for the shooting was not immediately clear, but it came amid rising tensions following a series of deadly attacks by Palestinians. Israel’s emergency services Magen David Adom said it had received reports of shootings in “several tents” around downtown Tel Aviv. He said he had transported six people to a nearby hospital, three of whom were in serious or critical condition. Eli Levy, a police spokesman, urged people to avoid the area. “A terrorist opened fire a short distance away and then fled on foot. “Several people are injured,” Levy told Israel’s Channel 13. “Do not leave your homes. Do not stick your head out the window. “Stay away from your balconies,” he said. Prime Minister Naftali Bennett was monitoring the situation from the Israeli army headquarters, which is also located in the center of Tel Aviv, his office said. Tensions are high following a series of attacks by Palestinian militants who killed 11 people shortly before the holy Islamic month of Ramadan, which began almost a week ago. Last year, protests and clashes during Ramadan sparked an 11-day war in Gaza. More details coming soon…
