Police responded to a 911 call about a man with a shotgun approaching a house on 1 Driftwood Street in Derry around 2:15 p.m. They learned that 43-year-old Christopher Coppola had shot at a resident, according to New Hampshire Attorney General John M. Formella. Coppola, a resident of 5 Driftwood Street, was later shot by police officers who responded to the scene. Formella noted that three officers dropped their weapons during the incident. No law enforcement officials or residents of the neighborhood were injured. The names of the officers involved in the shooting are being withheld in anticipation of the completion of the official interview. Formella said the officers who responded did not have body cameras and that investigators would look into whether the cruiser’s cameras recorded any part of the incident. An autopsy-necropsy will be performed on Sunday morning to determine the cause and manner of Coppola’s death. The investigation remains ongoing.
