Officer Ryan Duxbury, a three-year veteran of the Roseville Police Department, was shot in the face by 53-year-old suspect Jesse Henri Werling, according to the BCA. Duxbury is stable and still recovering at Regions Hospital. A GoFundMe for the injured officer has been launched. Verling was killed in the incident when police officers Roselville Boa Chang and Brian Anderson shot him, the BCA reported. Chang and Anderson have worked for the Roseville Police Department for 11 and 16 years, respectively. They are both on formal administrative leave. Police say Verling fired about 100 bullets Tuesday night near the intersection of West Owasso Avenue and Victoria Street North, first in neighborhood homes and then against police officers who responded to the commotion. The initial call from a neighbor came around 7:30 p.m. Police say police were unable to see Verling at first and that Daxbury’s associates dragged him to safety after he was shot. Shortly after 8:30 p.m., police located the suspect and shot him. The BCA continues to investigate the shooting and will hand over its findings to Ramsey County Attorney’s Office for review after completion. 5 INVESTIGATIONS found that Werling had a documented history of mental health concerns and that police were concerned about approaching him because he had stolen a long-range rifle from his mother’s gun safe. Investigators at the scene located a rifle with a 0.22 caliber action lever with a shooting range near the spot where Werling was shot. A law enforcement source told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS that they had been called to Werling’s home earlier in the day on a mental health call.
