First noted by Wrestling Headlines Wednesday, Lesnar was originally advertised for the show on the WWE website, but that is no longer the case. Dave Meltzer confirmed that Lesnar was “definitely booked” for the show other than Money in the Bank in Las Vegas, Nevada and SummerSlam in Nashville, Tennessee, but that he was out of Backlash. There was no reason why. Lesnar has not appeared on television since losing the WWE title to Universal Champion Roman Reigns in a title fight at WrestleMania 38 earlier this month. Reigns appears to be about to fight Shinsuke Nakamura, who is based on SmackDown last Friday, when he came out at the end of the show and was beaten by Reigns and The Usos. The Backlash card has begun to take shape in recent days with SmackDown women champion Charlotte Flair defending against Ronda Rousey in an “I Quit” fight. Raw Women champion Bianca Belair defending against Sonya Deville and a rematch of Cody Rhodes against Seth Rollins.
