This man has been named locally in the area as David Marshall. The fire broke out at the property on Manse Street earlier on Tuesday morning, as fire crews and other emergency personnel rushed to the scene. Four devices were present at the fire, but it has now been confirmed that the man died. The man is said to be known in the area and it is believed that a dog that belonged to him was also killed in the fire. SDLP South Belfast candidate Elsie Trainor expressed her condolences to the man’s family. “It is always very difficult to lose a loved one, but I can only imagine what they are going through given these very difficult circumstances. This is a tight spot and this death will also be a shock to the local community in Carryduff,” he said. he said. “I would also like to pay tribute to the work of the fire brigade that responded to this incident. They put themselves in danger to help others and our community would be lost without them. I will urge anyone who has any information about this fire to come to the police as soon as possible. “ Detective Inspector PSNI Bell said: “At around 10.20am, police received a report that a fire had broken out in the property. The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service and the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service were also present. “Tragically a person was found dead on the property. “An investigation is underway to determine the causes of the fire and our police are in the area and conducting investigations.
