An improved version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for PS5, Xbox Series X / S and PC – which would include the base game and its various extensions – was first announced in September 2020, with CD Projekt promising to offer similar with ray -Tracking and faster loading times. All of this will be available both as a standalone version and as a free upgrade to those who already have the game on PS4, Xbox One and PC. It was a generous offer, but little was heard of the project since, with CD Projekt only mentioning it occasionally – usually in conjunction with another delay – as it continued its efforts to manage the aftermath of the devastating release of Cyberpunk 2077. The latest Witcher 3 delay came last October, when CD Projekt explained that, based on “recommendations provided by development monitoring teams”, it was now aiming to release in the second quarter of 2022. However, that target has changed. again, with the developer blaming the latter for delaying its decision to complete the remaining work on the game internally. Previously, the project was developed by Saber Interactive, which had previously operated the famous Witcher 3 Switch port. “We have decided to commission our in-house development team to carry out the rest of the work for the next generation of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt,” CD Projekt wrote in a statement posted on Twitter earlier today. “We are currently evaluating the scope of the work that needs to be done and, therefore, the release of Q2 should be postponed until later.” The studio says it will provide a progress update “as soon as possible”.
