Cedar Rapids officers were on a routine patrol in the city center at the time of the shooting, the statement said, and were able to respond immediately. Police have secured the scene and “there is no danger to public safety,” the statement said. Police have not released any information on possible suspects or arrests. The investigation continued on Sunday morning and anyone “present at the time of the shooting or aware of the incident” should be contacted by investigators, the statement said. The injured are receiving medical care at many local hospitals.
