Police officers were invited to give references to a fight to the event, Acorn Way, around 20:05 on Monday, April 11th. A young woman was said to have been attacked at the scene by a young man and was kicked out of the event by security personnel.
Security personnel then claimed that a gang of teenagers and young people gathered outside the exhibition and challenged them. When police arrived to disperse the gang, they threw bricks and bottles at police.

Two police vehicles were damaged and one police officer was slightly injured during the incident. Three youths also told police they were attacked by security personnel during the incident and suffered minor injuries.
As a result of the riot, a 15-year-old woman from Runcorn was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer, criminal damage to a police vehicle and breach of public order. A 21-year-old was arrested as a suspect for criminal damage to a police vehicle.
Both were taken into custody and questioned by police. Extensive investigations into the incident are ongoing and anyone with any information is requested to contact the police.
Sefton Community Inspector General Tracie Trubshaw said: “We just will not tolerate such heinous violence and anti-social behavior in our communities and, while we have made several arrests, our extensive investigations into the incident last night are continuing. Reckless conduct not only endangers the safety of officers but also the safety of the public.
“Such anti-social behavior and attacks on emergency workers while performing their duties are unacceptable and we are working to identify and deal with those involved. I would ask parents and carers – do you know what your children do when they are out?”
“Please talk to them to prevent a recurrence of this type of behavior and the risk of serious injury. I would like to assure the community that in the future, we also have various options for dealing with such behavior, including dispersal zones. for antisocial behavior, we will not hesitate to take action.
