Raheem Sterling can’t wait to be at his mum’s for Sunday lunch after ‘hitting the targets’ at Stamford Bridge, writes JORDAN DAVIES. And Chelsea’s £50m signing says he is now “mature and big enough” to deal with the distractions London has to offer. Sterling, 27, made his debut for the Blues in the early hours of Thursday against Charlotte, having completed his five-year move from Manchester City last week. It feels like a proper homecoming, having grown up near Wembley Stadium and starting out in QPR’s academy before heading north with Liverpool and then City. Now, he’s back in the capital where it all started for him, but forget the nightlife and tourist attractions – the England international just has family and football on his mind. In his first interview since joining his team-mates on their pre-season tour of the US, he said: “Every time I go back to London it’s a surreal feeling. “When I first came up north, I never went down very far. My family always went out so I could stay focused on work. Sometimes London can be a distraction. “But I’m old enough now, mature enough. For my kids and family, it will be a great opportunity for us to spend more quality time with my mom, their grandma and be closer. “You know how it is. Score or win a game, go to mom’s and have some Sunday dinner and pop up. It is adorable.”
