The Lower Mainland Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has taken over the investigation into a triple shooting that happened inside a home on McNaught Road Thursday morning. Mountaineers from the Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment were called to the 9700 block of the road around 11 a.m., according to a statement from IHIT. When officers arrived, they found one woman already dead and a second woman suffering from life-threatening injuries. She was airlifted to Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, where she died from her injuries. A third person, a man, suffered non-life-threatening injuries from the shooting and was treated at the scene. Investigators said the suspect is 50-year-old Eric John Shestalo, who was last seen driving a red 1990 Jeep YJ. The vehicle “appears to have a yellow front end” and may have license plate MT981W, the release said of IHIT. The group said Shestalo is considered armed and dangerous and advised anyone who sees him not to approach him, but to call 911 immediately. Police describe Shestalo as a white male, 5’9″ and 176 pounds. He was last seen wearing black pants, a black jacket and a black hat with an orange brim. Investigators said they believe Shestalo knew the victims and that the shooting was targeted. “Officers are working to trace Mr Shestalo as well as any witnesses to this devastating incident.” said IHIT spokesman Sgt. Timothy Pierotti, in the statement. “We urge anyone with information, dashcam footage or home security video to come forward and speak to police as soon as possible.” A mother and daughter who asked not to be identified told CTV News they were at the home during the shooting. “It’s scary and unexpected that you don’t think it’s ever going to be in your neighborhood,” the mother said. “It was right next to us, the house next to us, at first I thought it was a loud crash or something, but then I ran over and there was screaming,” her daughter added. They said a family with several children lives in the home where the shootings took place. It is not yet known if their parents were victims. IHIT said it is specifically interested in speaking with witnesses who were traveling in the 9700 block of McNaught Road between 9 a.m. and noon.
