Christopher Broad, 16, was found to have suffered at least one gunshot wound inside a Belleview home on Sunday. He was rushed to a local hospital where he died of his injuries, according to police. A subsequent investigation revealed that Broad and another boy, 17-year-old Joshua Vining, “shot each other while wearing a vest containing a form of armor,” the Belleview Police Department said in a statement. A third teenager, Colton Whitler, was present at the time of the tragedy and allegedly gave police false reports of what had happened, authorities said. “Winning shot Brodd while he was wearing his vest and they hit him,” the statement said. Winning and Whitler were arrested in connection with Brod’s death on Thursday and will be charged as adults, police said.
