Sam Harding, who played for the Northern Premier League teams, Prescot Cables and Runcorn Linnets, was hit by an Audi S3 on Sunday 10 April. The midfielder also played for FC United of Manchester, Ashton Athletic, Longridge Town and Glossop North End’s junior setup. In a statement, Prescot Cables said: “The club is deeply saddened to learn of the death of Sam Harding, who was killed in a car accident last night. Sam made several appearances for Prescot Cables during the 2019-2020 season “Thoughts are with his friends, former teammates and family right now. RIP Sam.” Runcorn Linnets said: “We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic news that Sam Harding unfortunately lost his life in a car accident yesterday. Sam made some appearances for the club at the start of the season. We would like to express our condolences to Sam’s family and friends. “ Police also asked witnesses to come and videos of the Kingsland Grange clash. Both Sam and the driver are believed to have been there in a “car meeting”, according to police. The driver, 21, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. In a tribute, Sam’s family said: “Our beautiful son was tragically removed from us on Sunday, April 10, 2022. A much-loved son, brother, grandson, niece and friend of many.
