The data released by the government today show a decrease compared to the total number of hospitalizations on Saturday 1,188. It should be noted that not all hospitals in Ontario report patient data over the weekend. At the same time, COVID-19-related intensive care imports increased by five to 173. Data on accidental hospitalizations and the vaccination status of those infected have not been made public.

The laboratories performed 16,816 tests for the new coronavirus in the last 24 hours, which according to the province produced a positivity rate of 17.6%. At least 3,481 positive COVID-19 cases were detected after these tests, although this number is probably underestimated due to limited access to PCR testing across the province. Another 15 new COVID-19 deaths were also recorded, bringing the number of deaths in the province to 12,563. Of those overnight deaths, 11 occurred last month and four more than a month ago. Ontario has seen 1,195,918 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases throughout the pandemic, including 1,152,175 recoveries.
