A snapshot posted by @EvertonHub on Twitter shows Ronaldo throwing his right hand to the ground as he leaves the Goodison Park stadium and what appears to be a phone bouncing off a spectator’s hand and going to the floor. The mother of the fan claimed that she was “bruised” by the incident, which left the young man “in absolute shock”. Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Sarah Kelly said her 14-year-old son Jake Harding was autistic and “did not really understand what was happening” until he got home. “He is really upset about this and is forcing him to go back into the game,” he told the newspaper. “This is the first football match he has been to and that has happened.” Jake, he said, did not ring his phone in Ronaldo’s face – and was under the floor when the Portuguese striker moved towards him. She also shared a picture of her son’s hand in the newspaper, in which he looked red and bruised.

Ronaldo: “It is never easy to deal with emotions” Ronaldo apologized for the incident on Instagram and called the fan to a match at Old Trafford. “It is never easy to face emotions in difficult times like the one we are facing,” he said. “Nevertheless, we must always be respectful, patient and set an example for all young people who love beautiful play. “I would like to apologize for my outburst and, if possible, I would like to invite this fan to watch a game at Old Trafford as a sign of good fighting and athleticism.” United are aware of the video, which has been widely shared on social media, and the club said on Saturday afternoon that they are investigating the incident. Merseyside police said they were in contact with both teams after the incident and investigations are ongoing.
