The incident happened around 12:30 on Friday morning on the motorway between Front and Broad streets. Police say the tire hit in the middle and hit the windshield of a car traveling south, trapping the driver inside. Doctors were forced to cut off the roof of the vehicle to free the victim. A man in his 60s was taken to Jefferson University Hospital where he later died. It is not clear if the driver of the pick-up, who was still going, realized what had happened.
