Dwayne Haskins, a former Ohio State general who was in the first round of the draft in Washington and most recently played in Pittsburgh, has died at the age of 24. Haskins was killed when he was struck by a car early in the morning in South Florida, his agent told Adam Shafter. In the state of Ohio, Haskins started just one season, but immediately became one of the best players in college football, setting a Big Ten record and finishing third in the 2018 Heisman Trophy vote. With the power of this fantastic season, Washington selected Haskins as the 15th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. The Steelers took him in 2021 and although he never entered the pitch for them in the regular season, they said this year that he would have the opportunity to compete for a starting position. Haskins was in Florida this week, working off-season with several other Steelers players.
