Police sent an emergency alert around 8:10 p.m. Friday after two shots were fired in the area, the alarm said. The RCMP received a call for the shots at 6:55 p.m., Cpl. Chris Marshall told CBC News. He said he did not believe anyone was injured. Marshall said police arrested one person and two others were seen running in a wooded area behind Brian Street in East Preston. “These people are believed to have escaped into the forest on foot, which obviously makes it much more difficult to move from one area to another, as opposed to being in a vehicle,” he said. “Again, we have the area contained at this point.”
The suspects are believed to have been armed
The suspects are believed to be armed. Marshall said the force has many officers and resources on the ground. He said residents should be prepared for a possible evacuation of their homes. “There may be some people that police go to their house and ask them to evacuate just because of the proximity to the area,” he said. “It will depend on how the situation develops.” Police warn residents not to approach the suspects and call 911 if found.
