Energy Secretary Andrew Parsons does not rule out a possible stake in the Bay du Nord. The county receives the Rothschild report examining the county government’s assets – including oil and gas exploits – but what it recommends, the government does not say. Moya Greene suggested in the PERT report that the government leave the oil and gas companies. Minister Parsons says that although it is the first days, he does not rule out the possibility that the province will have a share in the huge deep water project. Weighing his words carefully, Parsons indicated that he would be part of the conversation “in the future, fully aware of what Moya Green said.”
As for when it will be ratified and the project will start, Parsons could not say, but says that the estimated production date of Equinor in 2028 is still possible. In the meantime, the department will process the benefit agreement. “We’re not talking about weeks here, we’re talking about months,” says Parsons.
