The Great Western Railway and CrossCountry services were both closed between the two stations. The train companies predicted that they would be canceled or diverted by 6 p.m. The route is the main entrance and exit from Cornwall by public transport and includes stations in St Austell, Par, Bodmin, Liskeard, Saltash and Devon. However, the TrainLine ticketing website stated that “there may be an interruption”, but the services were not canceled as of 3 p.m. A National Rail spokesman said: “One person was hit by a train between Totnes and Truro. As all lines are closed at this time, trains may be canceled or diverted until around 18:00.” The agency confirmed shortly before 3pm that a person had died tragically on Twitter in response to a user requesting an update: “Hello Debbie, I’m really sorry for the delay in your service.
