The federal budget was reduced a few hours after the county handed over the 2022 budget.
It includes funding – $ 475 million – for a one-time direct payment of $ 500 to Canadians facing affordable housing challenges. Details, including eligibility requirements, have not yet been announced.
A dental care program for children under 12 will be introduced this year for families with an annual income of $ 70,000 or less. This program is expected to be extended to children up to 18 years old, the elderly and people with disabilities by 2023, with full implementation by 2025 with some restrictions.
A big focus of this year’s federal budget is the rising cost of housing in many parts of the country. Ottawa’s plan includes a two-year moratorium on foreign housing in Canada, which has pushed markets to unbearable levels in many parts of the country.
Defense spending will increase by $ 6.1 billion over five years, $ 500 million in military aid is provided to Ukraine and another $ 1 billion in loans are offered to the Ukrainian government.
