A search warrant was executed at a Calgary home on Tuesday and a young man was taken into custody. The teenager, who has been charged with second-degree murder, cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act and will appear in court on Thursday. Last week, emergency services were called to a green area on Lake Arbor, where they found a teenager who had been shot. This person was later identified as 16-year-old Jal Acor Jal. Jal’s family has described him as a talented athlete. He was said to be a smart and lively teenager hoping to move to the United States to pursue basketball after graduating from high school. Jal was one of three homicides last week.
