The Metropolitan Police said it happened while police were watching reports of an armed man who “suffered a mental health crisis” on an estate. The policeman was taken to hospital with a hand injury, the force said. His condition is not believed to be life threatening. A statement from the Met said: “At approximately 11:50 a.m. On Sunday, April 10, police were called to report a man armed with a machete suffering from a mental health crisis at an address at Skelton Road, E7. “The officers were present – one officer was injured in the arm and was taken to hospital for treatment. “His condition is not life-threatening.” The power said the police officers remained on the stage and “trying to get involved with the man” later on Saturday afternoon. “The incident is still ongoing,” the statement said, which was released to the Independent at 4 p.m.
