The British journalist said he felt “lucky” to have survived a bombing raid by Russian forces as he shared information about his injuries. Hall, 39, managed to survive the attack, but lost half a leg and a leg, while one of his eyes “no longer works”. His team was writing for the American network Fox News in Horenka, on the outskirts of Kiev, when his vehicle was hit by Russian bombing on March 14. Ukrainian producer Oleksandra Kuvshynova and Irish cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski were both killed in the incident. To summarize, I have lost half a leg on one side and one leg on the other. One hand is concentrated, one eye is no longer working, and my hearing is quite unbearable; but overall I feel very lucky to be here – and the people who brought me here are amazing! pic.twitter.com/HNjO6PbdGf – Benjamin Hall (@BenjaminHallFNC) April 8, 2022 “Pierre and I traveled the world together, work was his joy and his joy contagious. RIP.” Sharing a photo of him with a bandage and wearing an eye patch, he added: “To sum it up, I lost half a leg on one side and one leg on the other. “One hand is assembled, one eye is no longer working and my hearing is quite excited … but I generally feel very lucky to be here – and the people who brought me here are amazing. Hall later shared a link to a Fox News video tribute to Kuvshynova. Zakrzewski was a veteran war zone photographer who covered a number of Fox News conflicts, including in Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria. Based in London, he has been working in Ukraine since February. Fox News cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski commissioned by colleagues Steve Harrigan and senior producer Yonat Friling from Jerusalem. Zakrzewski’s funeral took place in Foxrock, Dublin, on March 29, where the Irishman was hailed as a “truth teller” full of energy and passion to tell the stories of people around the world. Several other journalists, including Brent Renaud, an American documentary filmmaker and another war zone veteran, have been killed in Ukraine since the war began more than a month ago.
