The politician and broadcaster denied that he worked for the Russian media and warned the social media giant that he would take legal action if the label – which appeared on his CV and in his posts – was not removed. The 67-year-old and his wife Gayatri Galloway presented a show entitled Sputnik: Orbiting the world with George Galloway on the Kremlin-linked RT network, formerly known as Russia Today, since 2013. He wrote: “It’s really Kafkaesque. When I appeared in Russian state media, I did not have a Twitter name. “Now that I can not and will commit a crime if I did, I have been given the designation.” Ofcom revoked RT’s broadcasting license in the United Kingdom following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. An episode of Sputnik with Mr. Galloway, entitled “Ruble Recovers and Denials of Regime Change in the US,” appears to have been posted on RT’s website just Saturday. The Wayback Machine website archives suggest that, at least as of March 24, Mr. Galloway’s Twitter biography included a link to the official Twitter account of his Sputnik show, which continues to refer to him and his wife as hosts. Mr Galloway expressed outrage at the move of Twitter to Elon Musk, who this week turned out to be the largest shareholder in the social networking site. “Dear Elon Musk,” Mr Galloway wrote on Twitter on Wednesday afternoon. “This must be removed immediately or action will be taken. We had such hopes for your new era “.
