In an interview, the representative of RCMP Cpl. Hans Ouellette said the Sackville RCMP responded to the incident on Woodlawn Road in Dorchester, NB around 2:45 p.m. “During the incident, a schoolgirl was injured and taken to hospital with injuries believed to be life-threatening,” he said. Ouellette could not provide further details about the incident, but said police believe no other vehicles are involved. “The only information I have is that the incident only concerned the school bus itself,” he said. “We are still in the preliminary stage of the investigation and we are still investigating the causes of the incident.”

Woodlawn Road was closed for a few hours on Tuesday and traffic was diverted, but has since reopened. In a statement to parents on Tuesday afternoon, Pamela Wilson,’s inspector general for the East School District of England, said the incident involved students from the Dorchester Consolidated School.
