Google Maps brings a GREAT new update that will satisfy your wallet! Starting this month, Google Maps can really help you save money on toll booths along the way. You will be able to view toll rates and even ask Maps to change your route to avoid tolls and charges. The feature will be released this month for both Android and iPhone users and India is one of the first countries to get the feature along with the US, Japan and Indonesia. The update will allow users to choose between routes that have a toll booth and those that do not. Google Maps will also display toll rates in an effort to help you plan your trip better. “With this new update, users can now find the estimated toll rate for their destination even before the start of the trip, thanks to updated toll billing information from local toll authorities,” Google said in a press release. The operation will estimate the toll price based on factors such as the cost of the toll pass or other payment methods, the time as well as the day.

Google Maps to help you save money

The option can be enabled by the Google Maps app as soon as it is released on your device. “A simple tap on the three dots in the upper right-hand corner of Google Maps will allow users to select route options and ‘avoid tolls’ if they want to avoid toll routes altogether,” Google said in a statement.

GREAT upgrades for iPhone, Apple Watch users

Google is also improving the Maps experience on the iPhone and Apple Watch. With the latest update, Maps in the Apple ecosystem will offer a new pinned travel widget, instant navigation from the Apple Watch, and Google Maps integration in Siri as well as shortcuts. With the new pinned travel widget, you can access your favorite trips from the Jump tab directly from the iOS home screen. This will make it easier for you to get directions. Google says users can check the arrival time, the next departure for the selected public transit trip and even a suggested route to drive. Additionally, Apple Watch users will now be able to get directions from Google Maps directly from their watch. You will no longer need to enter the destination from your iPhone – pressing the shortcut will automatically open the clock navigation. The “Take me Home” complication can also be added to the clocks to start navigating directly to your home address. Google Maps will also be integrated into iOS Spotlight, Siri, and the Shortcuts app. If you set the shortcut, you are simply asking Siri for directions or searching it on Google Maps. Note that these features will come in the coming months.
