Marjorie MP Taylor Greene thanked her fellow Florida MP Matt Gaetz for defending her as a “man” after talk show host Jimmy Kimmel joked that he had slapped actor Will Smith. “Matt, I’m really grateful for you, both for your character and as a man who will stand up for me as a woman. Because we have to recognize that women are the weaker sex and men are stronger than us.” Green said in Thursday’s episode of Gaetz’s podcast, “Firebrand.” “And, you know, in my family if my husband was there and he heard Jimmy Kimmel or any other man yelling at me to be hit by someone else,” Green said. “My husband would not tolerate this and would probably have taken action against him and rightly so, because men would have to defend women.” Kimmel angered Green this week when he made a joke about the MP on his show on Tuesday night. During his monologue, Kimmel criticized Greene for calling senators who voted in favor of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s affirmation “pedophile.” “Where is Will Smith when you need him?” said Kimmel, referring to the moment when the actor took the stage at the Oscars and slapped comedian Chris Rock. During his podcast on Thursday, Gaetz stood up to Kimmel’s joke, calling the host late at night a “jerk.” He added that if the joke had been made by a conservative comedian about a member of the progressive “Group” – which includes Democratic lawmakers such as Alexandria Okasio-Cortes and Ilhan Omar – there would be “mass outrage”. “By the way, Jimmy Kimmel, not only would Marjorie Taylor Greene’s husband do a quick job with you, but Marjorie Taylor Greene would do a quick job,” Gaetz said in response to Kimmel’s joke. “And if you do not believe this, you can go and ask the Marines who did tours with her at the Iowa State Fair,” Gaets added. “And I guess Jimmy Kimmel would not have endured much if he had been interested in engaging in unprovoked horrific violence against this MP.” Green said Wednesday she had filed a report with Capitol police against Kimmel, calling the comedian’s statements a “threat of violence.” Kimmel then retaliated against Green, mocking her with a tweet that read: “Officer? I would like to tell a joke.”
