Derbyshire Police officers have launched a call for information and want to locate a man they would like to speak to in connection with a serious attack in the match that saw Grimsby Town win by a four to one goal. A man in his 30s suffered a serious head injury after a disturbance involving fans of both teams. The man pictured in the CCTV image was at the Donkey Derby before the incident and investigators want to speak to him immediately. Read more: Football fans ‘sent back to Chesterfield’ after bad scenes at Grimsby Station A Derbyshire Constabulary spokesman said: “Officers are appealing for help in identifying the man pictured they want to talk to about a disorder during Chesterfield FC vs. Grimsby Town FC. “A serious attack took place during the race, around 4 m. Officers would like to speak with this man after a serious attack on a Chesterfield pub that left a Grimsby Town fan with a serious head injury (Image: Derbyshire Police) “The man pictured was in the Donkey Derby before the incident and investigators want to talk to him. “Anyone who identifies the man should contact Derbyshire Police using any of the following methods, including 22 * 187483. That includes five Grimsby supporters who have been arrested for a number of offenses, including public order, possession of firefighters, drugs and trespassing. Police are currently browsing videos in anticipation of more arrests following complaints from members of the public. Adam Collins, a dedicated Chesterfield FC officer, said the behavior of some fans was “completely unacceptable”. He said: “This weekend we have seen significant incidents of disorder both within the ground and in the wider area of the city. As a force we work closely with the club and the fan groups to ensure that the days of the games are a safe and family friendly event. “The vast majority of those who come to games, both from home and away teams, are fantastic ambassadors for their clubs. But those who participated in the various incidents of disorder on Saturday are the complete opposite. “Simply put, their behavior was completely unacceptable and in the coming days and weeks we will be looking at CCTV, including high-resolution drone footage, to locate those involved.” Read more related articles Read more related articles In a drug operation carried out at the city train station during the day, 15 bags of cocaine traffickers were also recovered and two men were arrested for drug offenses.
