According Variety, the update will be available on Apple TV and Apple TV 4K boxes throughout the week and next week. Users all over the Internet complain that their HBO Max app does not open on their Apple TVs.
New features
The new operating system appears to be largely unchanged from the previous version. The few changes include a more intuitive login / registration page, a new homepage with a scrolling banner, and a “Binge Mode” that lets you skip end titles. There is also a new My Stuff feature to help users better manage their watch lists. The smart Redditors on HBO Max Subreddit have found other changes. One user commented that auto-previews can now be turned off and items can be removed from the Continue Tracking section. Another pointed out that there are new animations in the application. Another person reports that HBO Max on the Android, PlayStation and Tizen platforms also has the update, but with a slightly different user interface.
Cutting growth angles
Prior to these changes, the official solution was to close the application and restart it, or uninstall and reinstall HBO Max. But now the application seems to be much more stable and more capable of booting properly. The problem seems to have been caused by the application development. WarnerMedia EVP Sarah Lyons has revealed to Variety that the company has cut corners by using existing HBO Go and HBO Now applications to create new software to speed up traffic. However, these old applications were not built to house a larger library or to be used internationally, so they created some implementation problems. Lyons admits that they knew they would eventually have to correct the incompatibility or “widen it out” as she put it.
