UPDATE: 4:40 p.m. BC Highway Patrol has confirmed the crash at Rosedale Road and Highway 97 in Summerland is “serious.” A southbound SUV struck a northbound moped/scooter type motorcycle that had turned left in front of the larger vehicle. The SUV then stuck another northbound vehicle after attempting to swerve. “Two occupants from the SUV were transported to hospital with minor injuries, while the operator of the scooter was transported to hospital in critical condition,” reads an update from BC Highway Patrol. “At this time, no criminality is believed to have contributed to the cause of the collision.” Anyone with information regarding the collision including dashboard video is asked to contact BC Highway Patrol Keremeos at 250-499-2250. UPDATE: 4:15 p.m. DriveBC has updated its findings and is reporting that both southbound lanes and one northbound lane are closed on Highway 97 at Rosedale Avenue. An estimated time of opening is not available. DriveBC is expected to have another update at 5 p.m. ORIGINAL: 3:40 p.m. Emergency crews are on the scene of a head-on collision on Highway 97 in Summerland. Castanet News has been told the crash involved a motorcycle and an another vehicle. The collision occurred at the intersection with Rosedale Avenue. The BC Ambulance Service is on scene attending to those involved. Traffic is said to be moving slow in the area. Castanet News will have more information when if becomes available.
