Pelosi test positive is the latest in a series of Covid diagnoses for government officials in Washington, D.C., and comes a day after California Democrat stood next to President Joe Biden at a signing ceremony at the White House. The 82-year-old Pelosi is second in line to the presidency, after Vice President Kamala Harris, in case Biden dies or is incapacitated. “After coming out negative this week, President Pelosi received a positive result for COVID-19 and is currently asymptomatic,” Drew Hamill, the deputy chief of staff, said in a Twitter post. “The speaker is fully vaccinated and enhanced and is grateful for the strong protection provided by the vaccine,” Hammill wrote. “The speaker will be quarantined according to CDC guidelines and encourages everyone to be vaccinated, strengthened and tested regularly.” On Wednesday, both Attorney General Merrick Garland and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo tested positive for the coronavirus. Biden’s cabinet members both attended the Gridiron Club and the Foundation Dinner in Washington on Saturday. Pelosi did not attend Grinder’s dinner. Two members of the House of Representatives, MP Joaquin Castro of Texas and Adam Siff of California, were also at the dinner, and on Tuesday said they were positive about Covid. Politico reported on Wednesday that several journalists who covered the dinner were also positive.
