Kevin Yarde, MPP of the NDP in Ontario for Brampton North, was replaced on Thursday by Sandeep Singh at a nomination meeting in Brampton. Graham McGregor will represent the Progressive Conservatives in the upcoming elections. Harinder Malhi, who lost his seat to Yarde in 2018, is the Ontario Liberal candidate. Aneep Dhade will be on the ballot for the Greens of Ontario.

“I want to thank Kevin Yarde for his many years of service to Brampton North,” Ontario NDP leader Andrea Horwath said in a statement. The story goes on under the ad Yard took over from the Ontario Liberals in 2018, winning with 38 percent of the vote. He was the first black member of the legislature in the Peel area. “While I am disappointed with the outcome of this campaign, I will continue to advocate for justice and equality,” Yard wrote in a tweet. Singh worked as a marketing director for an immigration consultancy, according to a press release from the Ontario NDP. He is a lifelong resident of Brampton and lives in the city with his wife and three children.
