Raad Hazem, 28, was killed Thursday by Israeli security forces after an eight-hour manhunt when he was found hiding near a mosque in the Arab neighborhood of Jaffa. The IDF said its forces moved in Saturday “to look into the possible demolition of the house” in the West Bank city of Jenin. Demolition of safe havens for terrorists is a common practice in Israel as a way to prevent future attacks, although the practice has been criticized by human rights groups. Soldiers who opened fire during the raid killed a fighter who later identified himself as a member of Islamic Jihad. A second gunman from the group was also injured. Jenin is ruled by name by the Palestinian Authority, but there have recently been challenges to control by rival factions with the group and the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization, according to the Times of Israel. The city has become a stronghold for fighters who want to carry out attacks inside Israel. IDF soldiers opened fire during the raid, killing one Islamic Jihad member and wounding another. Kohav said he believed Hazem had bridged a gap in Israel’s West Bank defense dam, which the country built after a wave of terrorist attacks in the early 2000s. construction was completed in 2004. Kohav ordered the Israeli army to also strengthen defensive measures along the dam. With postal cables
