Jack White got engaged and then got married on stage during his concert in Detroit on Friday night. The Detroit News reports that White, 46, invited his girlfriend, singer Olivia Jean, to the stage for a duet of the White Stripes’ “Hotel Yorba” in front of a sold-out crowd at the Masonic Temple. White then popped the question to a surprised Jean and handed him a ring, before asking the crowd “It was such a wonderful day, do you mind if we get married now?” White, indeed, had a day full of action. He released his solo album “Fear of the Dawn” and also sang the national anthem at the start of the Detroit Tigers season. Both White and Jean grew up in The Motor City. The companions of the singer of “Taking Me Back”, the parents and the official, the co-founder of the Third Man Record, Ben Swank, gathered on the stage to formalize it, WXYZ reports. “My dear, we are here today to overcome this thing called life,” Swank was quoted as saying, referring to Prince’s “Let’s Go Crazy.” White does not allow cell phones on his shows, so fans could not capture the wedding. This is White’s third wedding. He and his White Stripes partner, Meg White, were married from 1996 to 2000. He then married model and singer Karen Elson in 2005, but divorced in 2013. White returns to Masonic Temple for another concert on Saturday, Jack White does not allow telephones at his concert, so there are no wedding fan photos. Getty Images
