According to the medical examiner’s final report, Vallée’s death on Christmas Day while in his cabin by the lake in Quebec was the result of “a fatal heart arrhythmia secondary to severe coronary atherosclerosis,” the family said in a statement. A preliminary report received by the family on 31 December could not prove the exact cause, but stated that “Mr Vallée’s death was not caused by the intervention of another party, a voluntary act or a known illness”. “Testimonies of friendship, appreciation and respect for our father and for his work continue to come from around the world,” said today’s sons Alex and ilemile Vallée. “We are sincerely grateful and hope that his creativity will continue to inspire and guide people in this industry for which he was so passionate.” The family said they would announce details of the memorial soon.
