She did not have much money or assets, but her bank accounts and pension have already transferred the money she had to the family. But it is a completely different story regarding the more than £ 800 that Sharlene paid to Jet2 for a summer vacation on the Greek island of Kos. Jet2 is demanding that the family go through a letter – appointing an executor to Sharlene’s estate at a huge cost – if they want the money back. The family’s lawyer advised them that in order to get back the 15 815 they would have to pay around 500 500 to go through a will. READ MORE: Tributes to lost loved ones in Lester Mercury’s death announcements There is no set level for when a bereaved family should go through a will, but it is usually for larger estates where a lot of real estate or other assets are involved. For Charlene’s estate, that would be superfluous. Describing the situation, Sharlene’s mother, Karen Gaze, said: “She died suddenly and unexpectedly on December 28 from a heart attack. Her brother, Paul, found her and tried to resurrect her. We are all devastated. “We later learned that he had a heart condition he did not know about. He was supposed to take Tyler on holiday on June 25 to celebrate Tyler’s 16th birthday. “Charlene was always proactive and paid a little for the holidays each month so she could pay them all in advance. She had paid around 15 815 out of 1. 1,200 for the two of them.” The trip to Kos was for Sharlene, Tyler, Sharlene’s sister Sammi and Sammi’s two daughters. Karen said there was nothing in the small print of the payment plan to suggest that it would be so difficult to get a refund after Charlene’s death. He said: “Jet2 is very nice on the phone and is very good with it, but they tell me I need to have an executor for Sharelene’s estate, which my lawyer says is completely unnecessary and will cost around 500 500. “The money is for Tyler and we want him to have it, but all he’s going to get is 300 300 after we pay to appoint the executor. they let us get the money. “But this money is for Charlene’s poor son and Jet2 is digging into their heels. I have sent her death certificate and even her birth certificate to prove that I am her mom. “But they will only send the money to the executor of her property. It was difficult for Tyler – he is only 15 years old and his GCSE is coming. “He is very strong, but it was difficult, emotionally, for all of us. I just do not want to fight anymore.” He said that dishonesty would have a fairer effect: “Ironically, I could have just called Charlene pretending to cancel and they would have refunded me in full. But I decided to be honest.” Jet2 confirmed that it was not going to make any exceptions to the rules for Karen. They said in a statement: “We would like to express our sincere condolences to Ms. Gaze and her family at this difficult time. “As the account used for the initial booking has been closed, we cannot refund this account. We have therefore asked Ms Gaze to provide documentation showing that she is the named executor of her daughter’s property. so that we can return the money to her directly. “As we have not received this warranty, unfortunately we can not do it. We sincerely hope to be able to complete the refund as soon as this warranty is confirmed, and we have contacted Ms Gaze to explain.” Read more related articles Read more related articles
