Kelowna resident Dale Sterling is hoping to raise money to support his son’s daycare after being forced to close after a fire. On Thursday night, the Faith Lutheran Church caught fire in its kitchen area. Sterling says his son’s nursery, Mamma Bears Cub House, leased part of the church and was forced to close after the building was hit by smoke. “Almost all items in this part of the building should be discarded, including all toys and books that will not be covered by safety. I believe there are 10 children, including my son, in this small mother / daughter nursery that “They are only in their second year of operation,” Sterling said. “These children have been temporarily displaced until the smoke damage in the area is repaired. An early estimate by the rehabilitation company is that it may take several weeks before the area becomes suitable for operation again,” he added. Sterling says he is now trying to find childcare. “It’s not easy, but we sorted it out next week.” Sterling has launched a GoFundMe to help cover the cost of damaged items. “I would like to help. These people have golden hearts and could really use any help they can get right now.”
