Eagle eyed fans have noticed what could be the foot of an AT-ST walker during a short scene in the trailer, suggesting that Star Wars could be one of the Disney properties included in the next game. The images released on Kingdom Hearts Reddit (as noted by VGC) show side-by-side comparisons of the trailer and the AT-ST leg, with fans speculating that the jungle setting could be Star Wars Endor. Each game in the series has many Disney-themed worlds to play with, with Kingdom Hearts 3 featuring features such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Frozen and Toy Story. Neither Star Wars nor Marvel – two of Dinsey’s biggest franchises – have appeared in Kingdom Hearts games in the past, and neither development company Square Enix nor Disney itself has confirmed if this will happen in the future. The creator of the series Tetsuya Nomura previously confirmed that the reason for not showing the Star Wars and Marvel properties in Kingdom Hearts 3 was just a matter of contract. If they have thought long and hard about the new game, it is quite possible that we will see brand new universes appear in the future. Fans will probably not receive confirmation for a while, as the game was unveiled just yesterday at the event for the 20th anniversary of Kingdom Hearts. Square Enix also confirmed that the game was still in “early development” and that production of Kingdom Hearts 3 lasted 13 years. While some gameplay was revealed showing the protagonist Sora crossing a fairly normal city (apart from the giant Heartless monster), we have since learned that it was from a demo developed in Unreal Engine 4. The final game itself is being prepared in Unreal Engine 5, which means that these sections may not be able to be played in the same way for some time.
