Firefighters were called to a home in Recolte Private, near the Tenth Line and St. Joseph, around 9 p.m. Several 9-1-1 callers reported seeing smoke and flames. The fire was limited to a kitchen on the second floor, but there was damage to the third floor of the house. Firefighters extinguished the fire at 9:21 a.m. The house was evacuated safely, although the Ottawa Fire Department said paramedics had a patient at the scene. Ottawa paramedics had no additional information. Firefighters say the Canadian Red Cross and Salvation Army will both help those affected by the fire.
