The Lake Country Fire Department was involved in a truck fire early Saturday morning. Firefighters extinguished a fire in a truck on Highway 97 in Lake Hunty in the early hours of Saturday morning. At approximately 1:40 a.m., the Lake Country Fire Department observed the fire on Highway 97 and Beaver Lake Road. “Halfway carried a bucket of excavators on a return trip to Prince George when the fire broke out,” said Lake Fire Chief Steve Windsor. “It was decided that it was mechanical in nature, probably starting with a burnt tire.” Fire crews were able to quickly bring the fire under control, but due to the extreme heat from the fire, it is not clear if the truck will be repairable. Six firefighters responded to the call.
