Scenes with crowded check-in lounges, queues escaping from terminals and abandoned luggage have become ominously familiar in recent weeks – and more are expected today.

Police and transport staff will be dispatched to help the situation, the mayor of Greater Manchester has revealed, while passengers will receive real-time information on the internet queue and the option to deliver their luggage the night before their flight as part of a new action plan resolving a staff crisis. The airport had previously stated: “As we continue to recover from the pandemic and the number of passengers is increasing, the queues may be longer than usual. If you are planning to travel in the coming weeks, please arrive as soon as possible. “The airline allows.
